Ed Penney:
     Has had songs recorded throughout the past six decades. He started writing in the early 1950’s when he was a Disk Jockey in Boston and has continued through the new millennium. At the time, during the 1950's,  he interviewed artists and producers as a part of his radio show, and then began shopping his songs to major publishing companies. “At the time very few artists wrote their own songs, unlike today. The artists chose their material from full time professional songwriters.

 
     Ed’s discography is vast. One of his first songs in the early 1950’s “Queen of the Senior Prom” Was recorded by the Mills Brothers. Other songs were chosen by the Ames Brothers, Glen Campbell, Anne Murray, Burl Ives, Eddy Arnold, DMX and Lorrie Morgan. Also, Barbara Mandrell “That’s What Friends Are For”, Moe Bandy “Two Lonely People” and Dottie West “That’s All I Wanted To Know”.

 
     In 1981 “Somebody’s Knockin’” Sung by Terri Gibbs was the only ASCAP song to hit the top ten on the Country, Pop, and Adult Contemporary Charts. This song received a Grammy Award Nomination. The song was co-written with Jerry Gillespie, who also wrote “Heaven’s is Just a Sin Away” recorded by the Kendalls, which received a CMA and a Grammy. Ed received the SESAC Producer award in 1981. Ed’s publishing company is Chiplin Music. He continues to write and has enjoyed his success over the past six decades.
